Going solo is better than being alone. I’ve always enjoyed alone time more than group hangs, probably to a fault. While I’ve lost my mind to over-isolation more times than I can count, this solo time forced me to write songs and share them in so many towns over the past half decade.
It has taken me a long while to muster the courage, but finally I’ve made a solo live album to encapsulate this era of wandering. It’s called Going Solo is Better than Being Alone: live in Wisconsin.
Studio recordings are fun but they never capture the jokes, nuances, and giddy energy in the room at a live show.
Jim Mcguinn from the Current in Minneapolis described the ambiance...
"Newski's live shows are part rock n' roll, part stand up, and part therapy. In the end, the room is won over." -Jim McGuinn, The Current, MPLS
I wanted to put an exclamation point on the “solo era” AKA my first 5-6 years of touring. This album gives that era posterity and finality as we move into “the band era” with Spatola on drums.
The new solo live album is available for pre-order starting today, right here.
Everyone who pre-orders a physical copy will also receive a brand new fridge magnet for maximum food cooling perfection.
There will be a short run of intimate solo shows around the support of this album, including some house concerts (see below if interested in hosting.)
Thanks for sticking with me over the years and being part of the inner circle.
Much love,
Newski
PS. I’m booking a handful of house concerts in winter in the USA. If you think you can rally at least 35 folks, email me hello (at) brettnewski.com
