NEWSKI:a 90’s band born in the 2000’s

NEWSKI is a Milwaukee-based trio reviving 90s alternative rock and power pop. They’ve been described as a blend of Tom Petty meets 90’s alternative. Led by the multifaceted and frantically creative Brett Newski, the band’s music blends quirkiness with lyrically-driven short-to-the-point songwriting. The band certainly has BECK, Gin Blossoms, Weezer, and Violent Femmes records on their shelves.

Brett Newski’s work goes beyond just music; it encompasses the authorship of two books, podcasting, and painting.

For the past decade, NEWSKI has been a prominent figure in the indie music scene, playing alongside bands like Violent Femmes, Pixies, Nada Surf, Guster, Gin Blossoms, Better than Ezra, Barenaked Ladies, Japanese Breakfast, Built to Spill, and Courtney Barnett. The band has received praise from Rolling Stone, NPR, American Songwriter, SiriusXM, Boston Globe, NBC, Billboard and SPIN.

In Piss In the Wind, his first volume of tour journals, Brett Newski captures the crusty adventures of nomad life, eking out a living in a less-than-glorious fashion as he plays DIY concerts across Asia, South Africa, and America. He battles through waning mental health, decrepit infrastructure, shady drifters, corrupt concert promoters, and shameless criminal enterprises along the way. Click image to order

"Showcases the unapologetically frank but not overly aggressive nature of 90s alt. rock perfectly." -American Songwriter

“A hypnotic slice of slacker pop.” -Popmatters

"Newski's live shows are part rock n' roll, part stand up, and part therapy. In the end, the room is won over." -Jim McGuinn, The Current, MPLS

"I like the sound and the way he is forcing the world to contend with him." -Brian Ritchie, Violent Femmes
